You all know that Slipper and I spend our nights stealth tent camping, however on this particular night we decide to enjoy a WORK FOR STAY opportunity at The Zealand Falls Hut.
After our first night of stealth camping in The Whites, we stop the next morning at The Galehead Hut and ask if they have any left over breakfast that we could eat for free. Anna (Hut Croo) says, “We don’t have any left over breakfast, but we do have some left over lasagna (from last night) that you can have for breakfast, if you like.” “We would love some lasagna, if you don’the mind!,” and Anna was sweet enough to warm it up for us as we enjoyed a couple plates of dinner for breakfast.
We asked her about a WORK FOR STAY opportunity at the upcoming huts and she informed us that we should arrive around 4:30 pm for the best chance.
We arrive at Zealand Falls Hut this afternoon at 4:15 and ask Ryan (Hut Croo) if we could grab some floor space for the night via a WORK FOR STAY OPPORTUNITY. Knowing that we are thru-hiking, he welcomes us to take on some cleaning responsibilities for dinner and breakfast left-overs and some floor space to sleep.
So we slide the Dining Room Tables over and claim just enough space on the Dining Room Floor for 2 people to sleep.
The WORK FOR STAY opportunity is certainly an experience that we can talk about… but our next night in the woods will be in our tent at a stealth sight.
