“DUMORE” Our Home Hauler

“Slipper” and I were married 7/7/07 at our little mountaintop cottage inside the Bent Tree Community of Jasper, Georgia. We took a 2-year stint to Snellville, GA to remodel my mom (JoAnn Yarbrough) and dad’s (Mack Yarbrough: deceased) 1974 Three Bedroom / Two Bath home. We are now back in the North Georgia Mountains and selling most everything we own (except a few living essentials like our vehicles, clothes and select furniture pieces) so we can invest the time necessary to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail.

After 6 months and 4 days (summiting Mt. Katahdin on August 19, 2016) and walking over 2,189.1 miles… we successfully complete our attempt to thru-hike The Appalachian Trail in one continuous season. Just before embarking on this epic journey, Slipper and I purchased an Old Farm House (to have a place to come home to)! After “gutting” and remodeling the home (interior and exterior), we closed-it-up and locked-it-up for the time we would be away. We currently live in our Farm House (tucked away off the side of a North Georgia Mountain) and strive to “strike-the-balance” between career and creation… work and wilderness… job and just-being-outside!

We are soon to begin living full time in our 30′ Airstream RV on the 3.66 acres we have purchased on top of one of our favorite North Georgia Mountains (just steps away from the Original Southern Terminus of The Appalachian Trail… Mount Oglethorpe). While we have been enjoying “easy living” in our Mountain Farm House (ever since returning from our Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike), we are excited to begin “simple, edited, minimal living” in our RV. Our thought is this: If we can live 6 months and 4 days in a 3-Person Tent, we can live the rest-of-our-lives in a 30′ RV. Some call it “A Tiny Home!” Some call it “A Camper!” Some call it “A Recreational Vehicle!” Some call it “A Trailer!” We call it “Home!” While it may be a smaller home and while it may be a simple home, we are sure to enjoy an immense and incredible backyard… afterall, “Home is where you park it!”

Slipper

Wife to “Tripper”, Mother to Adam Bardi (of Bardi Heating & Air Company) and Clint Collins (of a Glass Installation Company), Sister to Cheryl Dewell (of Jasper, GA.) and Julie Jensen (of Alpharetta, GA.), Daughter to Elaine Beckham Smith (deceased) and Jim Albert Hollis (deceased), Licensed Realtor & Sales Manager (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices/New Homes Division), Homemaker, Housewife & Helpmate.

Hobbies include: Hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, boating, cooking, gardening and just about anything and everything outdoors! We are stoked to continue “Living-The-Stream” from our “Fun-Sized-Home” and to create a Private Oasis of Full Time RV Living.

SLIPPER’S SHUTTLE

“Tripper” and I were quaintly married 7/7/07 in the midst of nature on the back deck of our mountaintop cottage surrounded by our children and close friends (Jim & Susan Williams Rogers of Avondale, GA.). The wedding was officiated by Rev. Ray Blanton (who was accompanied by his wife, Debra Blanton). After our honeymoon to the Island of St. John, our neighbors (David & Becky Dickerson) hosted a Reception for us at Club Tammarack of Bent Tree.

Tripper and I purchased a 3-acre tract of mountain property and an old Farm House (while renting a small Mountain Cabin). I have always desired a Farm House and we initially thought that we would build on the 3-acre tract of land we purchased until we discovered this particular Farm House with incredible views and indescribable love! Tripper took on the role and responsibility of General Contractor and 3 months (to the date) after we officially closed on the home, we completely remodeled and renovated
the Old Farm House. Not only is it a beautiful “pace” to live, but it is the best place to come home to after a hike.

We are trusting that our re-entry back into everyday life (after 6 months & 4 days of daily hiking) will not be so daunting, knowing that we are coming back to live in the midst of the mountains. As we continue to live our lives on purpose by serving people, our life plan is to always be “Putting Our BEST Foot Forward” on various trails around the world. In an effort to find and strike-a-balance within our everyday life, it is our aim to “Get Outside” as much as possible and to welcome-the-uncomfortable for growth potential (both on and off the trail).

We are soon to begin living full time in our 30′ Airstream RV on top of one of our favorite North Georgia Mountains! After living 6 months and 4 days in our Copperspur UL3 Tent, we welcome the simple, edited, minimal living of our Riveted Home atop a mountain with amazing and awesome views. Perfect… Peaceful… and Picturesque! While our home may be simle and small, our backyard is enormous and expansive!
