This month of December has truly been a Christmas Month (known by many as “The Christmas Season”, hence “Tis the season to be jolly… fa la la la la la la la la.” We enjoyed having our Children and Grandchildren up to the mountain for a sleep-over, our siblings by for a get-together and taking mom out for an in-town dinner.

With Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to ourselves, we decide to take a hike and an overnight tent camping trip on The Appalachian Trail. Realizing that we forgot to pack a lighter or matches, we ask a visiting family if they have a lighter to spare. Happily they gift us with a lighter and we are so happy that we take a Christmas Selfie with our Trail Family.

We arrive to Hawk Mountain just in time to get set up before Hiker Midnight! With temperatures dropping into the low 20s, we scramble to get into our tent and snuggle down into our sleeping bags… only to trap Rudolf in our tent and allow the glow from his red nose to warm things up a bit.

Slipper and I both fall asleep and before you know it we are greeting by the sunrise of Christmas Morning. The only place a mouse was stirring this night was in the shelter with a few other hikers.
