Did you notice our “Gone Fishing” Sign in the Feature Photo? Ah ha… you looked again, didn’t you? Close enough, right?

It is raining in The Shenandoah so much that we are TROUT FISHING without a pole… bait… boat… lake… or river! “How is this even possible?,” you may ask. We are staying at The Trout Cabin (#61) of Skyland Resort.

One thing that Slipper does so well (other than filtering water and helping me to set up and break down camp) is to keep a close eye of the weather predictions.

As a result, we ducked into The Trout Cabin (because the rain water is so high, we feel like we could begin TROUT FISHING). For now… I am preparing my best fishing tackle (not really) by sitting in the resort lobby and in front of the fire (really) uploading photos and updating the blogs (also really).

We are on our way to Front Royal to resupply and take a NERO and then onward bound to ride The Rollercoaster into Harpers Ferry, Virginia (the Rollercoaster being a section of pointless ups and downs just before entering the designated halfway point of Harpers Ferry).

The Shenandoah has been wet… cold… foggy… misty…rainy… cloudy… and full of motorists.

While stopping at the Wayside Restaurants, Lodges and Resorts has been a different type of hike (as you have to adjust your mileage to make these stops), we are ready to maintain our happy pace of 15 miles per day and get back to the wilderness experience that we enjoy.

Who knows… TROUT FISHING (with pole… bait… and boat) may be in our future (not really)! But then again, the closest we may come to TROUT FISHING is the little cabin we stayed in within The Shenandoah (really).
