SOLO “LUNCH HIKE” TO SPRINGER MOUNTAIN

At the spur-of-the-moment, “Tripper” decides to have lunch atop of Springer Mountain (being that the Springer Mountain Parking Lot is less than an hour from our home)

He jumps into his Mountain Mercedes (Jeep Wrangler), heads out to State Road 42 and before you know it, he ascends to the beginning point for a NOBO (North Bound) thru-hiker.

Needless to say, the few boulders atop of Springer make for a wonderful “Lunch Table” any day of the week.

If you like the sound of a gravel road or you just want to take a “Sunday Drive” through (literally through) the North Georgia Mountains, discover State Road 42 and make a day of it. Pack a cooler and have a picnic lunch just about anywhere. Just make sure (double sure) to “Leave No Trace Behind” (except maybe a few footprints along the trail or tire tread marks through a mud hole.
