GOSH BARN IT! This iconic location on the Appalachian Trail is no longer being recognized as an apt Hiker Shelter and as of 2020 is considered a closed and inoperable former Hiker Shelter. GOSH BARN IT!

Slipper and I vividly remember this beautiful location as one of our favorite places to camp. We arrive early enough to claim our spot on the plush green grass (just in font of the Barn) and set the tent to capture a most awesome view of the mountains.

As we hike this section of the A.T. (knowing that the Barn is officially closed), the thought occurs to encourage Hikers in this area to create a Go-Fund-Me Page to gather the funding needed to remodel… restore… and retain on-going maintenance necessary to keep this iconic spot an active and attractive Shelter for future Hikers.

Should a Hiker, Backpacker and/or Camper consider the project of remodeling and restoring this epic Barn, Slipper and I would have an interest in supporting the efforts.

It’s still a great spot to tent camp in the grass, but GOSH BARN IT… we hope the Barn gets restored.
