Whew… we just sold our home in the mountains and have officially moved into a “mountain cabin rental” for the purpose of attempting to thru-hike the AT in 2016.

Sitting in my recliner, sipping a cup of coffee and chatting with “Slipper,” I noticed that the fireplace to our new “mountain cabin rental” is shaped to form the Appalachian Trail Logo.

Talk about having “a sign!”

We have a daily reminder (in our face) of our upcoming journey on the trail.

We have begun de-cluttering and simplifying our lives (making untold numbers of trips to the Community Thrift Store) ridding ourselves of “stuff” that we really don’t need anymore.

My life motto is “a blessing isn’t a blessing until you give it away” and we are enjoying the opportunity of blessing others with the “stuff” that we really don’t need in our lives anymore.

We made several trips one day to the Community Thrift Store (beginning early in the morning) and we had one of the Jeeps loaded down with box-after-box of nice “stuff.” We had packed everything with “packing paper” and set it out that morning for pick-up.

On our very next trip to the Thrift Store, we noticed that most everything that we had dropped off had already been picked up by someone else.

We both looked at one another and smiled; knowing that someone was being blessed.

We still have a few more trips to make to the Thrift Store as we prepare ourselves for the venture of a lifetime! As we drive to the Thrift Store with our windows rolled down, we are singing (in unison) the George Straight Country Song Lyrics: “Just Give It Away.”
