Walking through The Shenandoah, we come across this tree with the formation of a lion and I thought to myself: “IF I WERE THE KING OF THE FOREST… I would have the courage to position myself on the trail in such a way that a Thru-Hiker could take the photo of a lifetime! The photo of me (IF I WERE THE KING OF THE FOREST) would go viral on both Instagram and Facebook and more and more people would make their way onto the trail in hopes of catching a glimpse of me (IF I WERE THE KING OF THE FOREST).

In case you are wondering, “Yes… there are Mountain Lions in these here hills!” The closest photo I have of one though, is in the Feature Photo of this tree along side of the trail.

Below are a few other photos taken (while the sun shed some light on us for a few hours).

IF I WERE THE KING OF THE FOREST, I would sit statuesque upon this boulder with white blaze for a quick photo opportunity.

IF I WERE THE KING OF THE FOREST, I would raise up on my back two legs and stand on this rock (giving a lucky Thru-Hiker an opportunity to snap a National Geographics Photo).

Bottom line (not lion… hahaha) it takes courage to thru-hike The Appalachian Trail. Do you have such courage, or is courage something that you need to ask The Wizard for if you WERE THE KING OF THE FOREST?
