Slipper and I have been looking forward to this short road trip for several weeks now and as we start driving northbound I CAN HEAR JOHNNY CASH SINGING the lyrics: “I’m going to Jackson.”

We travel to The Airstream Factory Center in Jackson, Ohio to view Alfie the Airstream on the assembly line.

As soon as we walk through the door and take a right turn into the Waiting Room, I CAN HEAR JOHNNY CASH SINGING and I know that we have officially entered “Wally World!”

We walk through the Airstream Store and have to discipline ourselves from purchasing “this” and “that” (with the word: Airstream on it). Afterall… we ARE trying to become a bit more minimalistic.

We dart into this small town (a town that would make Mayberry RFD look like New York City) and have lunch at this quaint establishment (all the while watching the clock to scurry back to the Airstream Factory Center to tour the factory and to catch a glimpse of Alfie).

The tour begins in the Waiting Room and is conducted by a gentleman who actually met Wally Byam and who has been working at the Airstream Factory for quite a long time.

His charisma and relevant information make for a most pleasant experience. Some have asked us, “Is it worth the trip?” Our answer is simple, “We drove over 10 hours to take the tour and the quick trip was worth every mile!”

The tour quickly moves to the Parking Lot where several Vintage Airstreams are parked, and as the door automates open I CAN HEAR JOHNNY CASH SINGING.

The Vintage Airstream in the above photo may look old, worn, aged, used and retired… yet for us it is a reminder of how long this company has been in business and how it continues to construct quality RVs that will last for years and years to come.

As we are about to conclude our tour, we enter the “Finish Line” of production and discover Alfie being cared for by an awesome group of guys.

Thanking these guys for taking good care of Alfie is truly an honor and to be able to walk through our Airstream (while on the assembly line) is a memory that Slipper and I will cherish.

If you are seeking for the best Travel Trailor RV that is built with quality construction and finishes and that will be around for centuries to come (if taken care of), you MUST search out an Airstream Dealer near you.

We visited a few RV Shows… spoke with professional Airstream specialists and determined that we wanted to be “Living The Stream.”

As we step up into our 30′ International Serenity I CAN HEAR JOHNNY CASH SINGING.

We are blessed beyond measure to have the opportunity to embark on our new minimalistic adventure and to make Alfie our home.

There is still quite a bit of work to do on top of the mountain, but we are enjoying each day… living it to its fullest… and preparing a beautiful and simple homestead for Alfie, Slipper and myself.

As I ponder what our first morning with a hot cup of coffee is like I CAN HEAR JOHNNY CASH SINGING.
