Today, Wednesday February 17, 2016, we are officially 4 days into our hike with the daunting task of ascending up and over Blood Mountain  (the highest elevation of The Appalachian Trail in Georgia) and descending down the north face of Blood Mountain into Mountain Crossings at Neel Gap.2016-02-17 18.20.16

As the ice and snow melt with each step of elevation gain, the trail becomes and instant Mud-Bog for any Hiker ready to go 2-Footing.

With blue skies, the 360 degree views are amazing.2016-02-17 18.20.50

As the sun begins to hide itself behind the mountain, we sneak into Mountain Crossings and claim the last 2 Bunks of the Bunk Room… only after we take a hot shower to clean off the mud and stench.

2016-02-17 20.10.18Bottom line… it takes guts to hike “Blood” in the mud!

After a resupply in the morning, we push north in the sun, rain, sleet, snow… or mud!
