Slipper and I find ourselves closest to Creator when we are outside in creation and have an understandable appreciation for the John Denver song lyrics: “Almost Heaven…”

People will often inappropriately ask us: “Where do you go to church?” and we will reply, “Do you mean, where do we go AS the church?” (being that “the church” is a body of people not a building or place).

Amazing how we are then met with a puzzled and/ or perplexed stare from the person asking the initial question.

While the inquiry is certainly genuine, I am heartbroken that far too many individuals are looking for God in a building.

Acts 7: 44-50 says, “Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness… Solomon built Him a house… However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: “Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the Lord, Or what is the place of My rest? Has My hand not made all these things?”

Of course, for those of us who believe, the answer is emphatically “YES!”

Being that Heaven is Creator’s throne and earth is His footstool, each and every time we are out in the wilderness, His creation bears witness of His existence and we are always blessed to encounter “ALMOST HEAVEN.”

Where do WE (Tripper and Slipper) go AS the church… to the footstool… to creation… to His making…to “ALMOST HEAVEN.” Come outside and join us!
