Hear Ye… Hear Ye… Hear Ye… we are 1/4 OF THE WAY TO MAINE!

So to answer the nagging question, (you know… the one that we all asked our parents when we were traveling on vacation…) “Are we there yet?”… we have a long way to go!!!

While we have been on The Appalachian Trail for just over 2 months we have taken WAY TOO MANY ZERO DAYS and need to pick-up-the-pace a bit (so we can summit Mount Katahdin before they close it)!

One way that we can do this is to convert ZERO DAYS into NERO DAYS (NERO meaning “Near Zero”). Rather than taking an additional day off while in town… we come into a town and work hard to resupply, shower and do laundry… only to be back on the trail the very next morning.

I told Slipper that we need to “get-our-hike-on” in order to complete the journey sooner -than-later… and so I snapped this shot of her leaving the 1/4 OF THE WAY TO MAINE spot doing a 3 mph pace. You go girl!

Please keep the encouragement coming… we need it!

We have a couple coming out to meet us in Pearisburg, Virginia to hike a few days with us on The Appalachian Trail (which will allow us to take a NERO for resupply, shower and laundry… and then be on the trail with friends the very next morning).

Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia marks our half way point! We hope to be there in much better time than when we started! This will be a monumental celebration for sure!
