Ever since we left Amicalola Lodge heading to Springer Mountain, I have been looking forward to hiking through The Whites National Park and taking this particular leg of the trail all in! To enjoy The Whites, one must scale back their mileage and keep and eye out on the weather (which can change in a New York Minute).

The evening before our initial accent, the man-in-the-moon seemed to blow us a kiss (as if the next day would be the beginning of an amazing hike).

I think that we should have brought more rope for all the rock hopping and rock climbing that we are doing (just to get to the top)! I thought that we were hiking… not hopping!

The man-in-the-moon must have known that the sun would be making an afternoon appearance, because as soon as we walk out from the treeline, the clouds began to break as the sun takes center stage.

The Franconia Ridge would become our gateway into THE WHITES OF NEW HAMPSHIRE and I must say that these mountains have already surpassed our expectations.
