0n this particular afternoon I am prompted to go to Captain Ds for lunch. Just to be clear, I don’t eat at Captain Ds. Nothing against the restaurant… I just simply do not frequent the establishment. The only time I would eat at Captain Ds is when I was visiting with my mom. She and her BFF “loved” Captain Ds. Whenever I would travel down to visit mom and ask what I could bring to eat, she would request Captain Ds. On this day I am prompted to eat lunch there. Needless to say, I am flooded with MEMORIES… PRESSED BETWEEN THE PAGES OF MY MIND.

After leaving Captain Ds Restaurant and driving home, I discover that a Diodar Cedar Tree has been delivered by Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Georgia Properties in memory of mom.

Moved with emotion, I sit in one of the Adorondak Chairs around the Fire Pit as Slipper drives up the driveway.

She exits her car… walks over… and hands me an envelope from an insurance company. Inside the envelope is a check of funds that mom had subdivided to her three boys.

With face in hands, there are multiple MEMORIES… PRESSED BETWEEN THE PAGES OF MY MIND.

As the sun rises early the next morning, I am moved to plant the Diodar Cedar Tree.

Throughout the entire process of planting… raking… digging… prepping… planting… grooming… and raking even more, I water the tree with tears from the many MEMORIES… PRESSED BETWEEN THE PAGES OF MY MIND.

Much like adding a cherry on the top of a pie or cake… as I am speaking out loud to my mom… 3 Ravens fly over and begin to caw at me (as if to say, “We too have great MEMORIES… PRESSED BETWEEN THE PAGES OF MY MIND).

I miss mom, but am greeted each morning by her MEMORIES… PRESSED BETWEEN THE PAGES OF MY MIND as I peer out the bedroom window of Alfie The Airstream and see the tree planted in her honor and memory.
