If you are a Basketball Fan, you may be hoping that I am writing something about the netted-hoop-sport! I don’the mean to disappoint you, but I must admit that The Spring Season SLAM DUNKED US with a score of snow as we were departing Hot Springs.

We couldn’t believe it! Just a few days before (upon entering Hot Springs) the temperatures were flirting with the 70’s… and then… BAM!

I must admit that I do enjoy hiking in the cooler temperatures rather than the hotter temps! While staying hydrated is extremely important on the trail, it just doesn’t take as much liquid as it does on hotter days.

Plus… I simply like the beauty of the trail (as it is flanked by the snow).

We are beginning to increase our milage each day and are selecting certain “Shelters” as a destination point to either eat lunch… use the privy… or select the most flat tent site available.

Shelters “usually” have a decent and reliable water source available, and the “magic” (or shall I say, “MARCH MADNESS”) comes when you can gather an ample supply of treatable water and trek forward a few more feet to a level site that is noticeable from a Hiker who has traveled there before you.

We enjoy pointing out “special campsites” along the way and enjoy scoring the winning campsite at the end of the day!
