Narrows, Virginia… named: “Narrows” because it is here that the river is most narrow… has a “NARROW” of things to do in this small town.
Alan, the Owner, is most accommodating and is willing to shuttle for resupply (as well as pick up and deliver to the trailhead).
Hearing from other Hikers that the motels of Pearisburg are less than what was expected, another Shuttle Driver spoke quite highly of MACARTHUR INN OF NARROWS, VIRGINIA… so we (and friends who have driven in from Tennessee to hike and camp with us for a few days) have booked a room here for a NERO.
Alan, Owner of MACARTHUR INN OF NARROWS, VIRGINIA… and winner of several moustache awards… is a wealth of knowledge concerning this town (being born and raised here doesn’t hurt) and has a few other business interests here (as well as an interest in making sure your stay is pleasurable).
Several celebrities have stayed here: John Wayne… Michael Landon… Mickey Mantle… Audie Murphy… and The Dave Matthews Band. President Roosevelt actually named the Hotel after General MacArthur.
