Who would ever think that we could walk to a mountain lodge and book a room in a rustic cabin for the night… but we did it… and we name room 111… ANOTHER LOVE SHACK, BABY!
The Big Meadows Lodge is not to be missed and the Wayside Restaurant at this particular Lodge & Campgrounds has the best food in The Shenandoah (hands down)!
There is a .7 mile walk from the Lodge to the Wayside Restaurant, but trust me… it’s worth each and every step!
We get back to the cabin early enough to dry our our tent rainfly… footprint… and tent body before the sunshine (that peaked it’s warm face out from behind the clouds) went out of sight again.
Being that I haven’t built or started a campfire ever since we have been on the trail, tonight would be the night for a fire (in the fireplace of ANOTHER LOVE SHACK, BABY).
Funny thing is this… there is as much smoke in the room as there is coming out from the chimney! We begin to laugh (trying not to disturb the older folks in the room across from us) and end up getting an electric fan from the closet and placing it in the bathroom (so as to circulate some air). They say, “Where there is smoke… there must be fire!” You know this is true in ANOTHER LOVE SHACK, BABY!
