Wouldn’t you know it… the time we begin our hike through The Shenandoah (really several days prior) it is raining? AIN’T NO SUNSHINE WHEN SHE’S GONE to hike through Shenandoah National Park!
The fog and dew are as thick as soup and the views are slim to none (not to mention that the Green Tunnel is becoming more and more claustrophobic)… so we are doing our best to capture any and every view that we can.
The first sight we see is a huge and fresh paw print of a neighboring bear, so we decide to jump onto Skyline Drive and “Yellow Blaze” for awhile to see if we can see something more than what we are able to in the thickness of the fog and dew.
Desiring to get to the nearest Wayside Restaurant for lunch, we catch a ride with “Squirrel and Pearl” (two lovely people who are out on their inaugural backpacking trip) and catch our first glimpse of a couple of bear crossing the road.
While we would like to have many clear picturesque views to share with everyone, we would love… love… love… to see that great ball of fire appear in the sky (at least for a little while) because AIN’T NO SUNSHINE WHEN SHE’S GONE!
