After a long day of hiking… and I am talking about “tree leaning” hiking… the kind of hiking that will have you leaning against a tree as you ascend the next mountain… we finally arrive at the notorious “shelter.”
As we walk toward the “shelter” I would almost swear that I heard the theme music to the movie: Jaws (dum… dum… dum… dum… dum… dum… dum… dum), but instead of seeing a shark fin, I see a mouse tail!
With only 4 hiker groups to this 3-level “shelter” (Plum Orchard), the decision is made to set up our tents INSIDE the “shelter.”
In essence, we converted this particular shelter into a Tent High-rise on The Appalachian Trail!
And the mice screamed at us all night long!!!
