We have been quite fortunate with weather and have had the opportunities to bypass much of the bad weather by getting into a nearby town before it hit!
Friday (April 22) was no different in that we were able to get out of the approaching rains by hiking 1/2 mile off the trail to Trent’s Grocery Store (a little country store on the outskirts of town).
They have a grille inside the store and Hikers know that whenever a good meal is close by, we will do what we can to get to it. The approaching rain was an extra push to get to the store.
We knew that there were tenting opportunities here, but we had recently heard that of you are fortunate enough to be one of the lucky ones, you could actually get a room in back of the store.
Well, as I said… we have been fortunate with weather and Friday was no different… we were able to secure a room in back of the store and escape the weather… not to mention eat enough food for a family of five! OMG!
Hikers… this 1/2 mile diversion off the trail is worth the meal. If you are able to book A NIGHT’S STAY IN BACK OF A GROCERY STORE then you can consider yourself one of the lucky ones.
