Okay… okay… okay… before all the criticism is hurled my way… DON’T HATE! I know that I am “clothes heavy,” but I would rather have a few pieces too many that I can discard, than not enough to put on (being we are starting on FEBRUARY 14). So for everyone who would say, “Take Off All Your Clothes ” here is my 30 lb gear list:

Right Side- Sea-To-Summit Bag for Sleeping Bag, Sunglasses, Winter, Summer & Bug Hat, Base Layer Shirt, Mid Layer Shirt, Fleece Vest, Base Layer Pant, Zip-Off Pant, Toe Sock & Darn Tuff Hiking Sock, Zamberlan Hiking Boot. These are the clothes I wear during the day!

Middle- GoPro Hero4 Silver Camera & Accessories Bag, Down Jacket, 4×6 Tarp (for tent vestibule), 50′ Rope, Copper Spur UL3 Tent, Fly, Footprint, Poles & Stakes, Washing Sponge, Folding Water Bucket, Sawyer Water Purification, Casio Waterproof, Light-Powered Watch, Crock Camp Shoes, Gloves, Gaiters, Rain Pant & Jacket. Thermarest 5.7 Rated Blow-Up Pad, Western Mountaineering 20 Degree Down Sleeping Bag, Leatherman Tool, Safety Whistle, Medical Supplies, Headlamp, Bathroom Essentials, Toiletries & Medication Tote, Rock Bag, Pack Cover, Micro-Spikes.

Left Side- Leki  Makalu Hiking Poles, Osprey Pack, Sea-To-Summit Bag for Sleeping Clothes, Fleece Balaclava, Base Layer Shirt, Fleece Outer Shirt, Base Layer Pant, Down Outer Pant, Heat Holder Socks, Down Booties

So… yes… this is a lot for the sake of comfort, but as soon as we enter the Spring-To-Summer Seasons, I can box some of the Winter Clothing and mail it back home (to lighten the load).

So to you Ultra-Light Hikers… as you pass us and smile, just remember to look back on the horizon and recall the story of the Tortoise and the Hare! We’ll get there… slowly but surely! It may be at sunrise or it may be at sunset, but we will get there… sooner or later!
