Wow! Are we in a serious drought or what? Slipper and I are much aware of the challenges faced when water sources dry up! It’s not pretty! It’s not sweet! It’s not nice! So what is the solution to a water drought! What is the answer to desert dryness? GET CREATIVE!
While on our thru-hike of The Appalachian Trail, we used a Sawyer Filter to treat small water sources that had the appearance of coffee or rusty and dirty water.
In periods of drought, even animals have a difficult time accessing life giving water! This being so, I have taken the time to GET CREATIVE and hand-build three watering holes for the animals that live within our community.
The stream that is behind our home (which is situated high above the stream on a ridge) is but a trickle, so today I GET CREATIVE and build 3 rock dams to help create 3 watering holes for the Deer, Bear, Racoon, Turkey, Fox, Squirrel and more to drink and bathe in.
When the rains come and the stream begins to fill, the watering holes will swell and the dams will sound as the water falls into the pools below.
Whenever you find yourself challenged by whatever Mother Nature throws your way… GET CREATIVE!
